THE AUGUST LIST THE DUPLEX PHASE

Oxford band The August List have revealed their new single, ‘The Duplex Phase’. It’s a departure from their droney-folk output of previous years, and instead wanders off in a Neil Young direction, with cosmic textures and guitar solos leading to something heavier. “The song is a wish to disappear into the ether to evade anxiety, toxic folks and toxic situations,” they say. “Who hasn’t wanted the floor to swallow them up on occasion? But, in the end, the desire to connect with another person who can help you stare down this desolation is a strong pull back into the world. So it is a kind of happy song, despite all evidence to the contrary.” The band are gearing up to release their new EP, Sun Pinned on Ghost Sky, on November 7th, 2025, via their own record label. -Dan Peeke
